The Power of Ten System is a set of visual tools designed to help students develop the fundamental underpinnings of number sense and is based on the premise that over eighty percent of learning is visual. New studies suggest that subitizing - learning to identify numbers without counting - is crucial to the development of number sense and basic fact acquisition. Power of Ten cards teach kids to subitize as they play. When students can 'see the number' without counting, numbers are easier to work with when adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
