Bar Models Activity Set - Multiplication & Division between Whole Numbers & Unit Fractions: Gr 4-5

EAI® Education Bar Models make modeling mathematical concepts a hands-on, logical experience for students. Our new activity sets feature content-rich activities that are great for whole group instruction, small group instruction, math workstations, and intervention lessons.

Each Activity Set includes one set of Bar Models (84 pieces in a zippered vinyl pouch), 35 Activity Cards, plus Teacher Instructions, and an Answer Guide. The Activity Cards are designed using a color-coded 3-Step Learning Process:

Developing My Understanding: The 10 red cards introduce concepts through teacher-led instruction. One side of the write-on/wipe-off card is a word problem without quantities to help students focus on the action of the problem. The other side of the card is the same word problem with quantities for students to solve. Cards measure 8½" x 11".

Analyzing My Understanding: The 10 yellow cards give students a write-on/wipe-off space to practice their problem solving skills using multiple model examples and strategies. The cards are self-checking and prepare students to solve more complex problems. Cards measure 8½" x 11".

Communicating My Understanding: The 15 green cards have a word problem on each side for a total of 30 questions for students to demonstrate independent thinking. Cards measure 3½" x 5".

The Teacher Booklet includes instructions and tips for using Bar Models, along with a detailed Answer Guide. Also included is a reproducible answer sheet where students can record their models and show their work for evaluation.
