Coronavirus ((SARS-CoV-2 or 2019-nCoV) that causes COVID-19 disease is rapidly spreading across the globe. Our new model shows how these viruses infect lung cells and then use their cellular machinery and their own enzymes to replicate.
The model shows all steps of the life cycle including: host cell binding and entry, viral RNA genome replication, transcription of viral genes, viral assembly and release.
Your students will learn about the coronavirus life cycle and get an understanding of where potential medicines can act. It can also be used to cover transcription and translation in an unusual context.
